Financial Services Cloud and nCino consolidation assessment for a Canadian credit union

A Canadian credit union ran two separate Salesforce environments: nCino for lending and Financial Services Cloud for member relationships. Running both created duplicate effort and inconsistent data. Before committing to a consolidation, the credit union needed to know whether the two could live together, what it would take and in what order. This case study covers that assessment and the consolidation approach it defined.

A Meerath Technologies engagement, delivered personally by Hassan Nahhal through a Salesforce consulting partner.

The situation

  • nCino supported lending; Financial Services Cloud held member relationships.
  • The two environments duplicated effort and produced inconsistent member data.

Constraints

  • Data, automation, security and reporting all differ between the two environments and had to be planned together.
  • Both orgs also needed to become more stable and mature, whatever the consolidation decision.

My role

  • Led a Phase 0 FSC–nCino compatibility assessment.
  • Defined target-state options, dependencies and risks.
  • Defined the target data model and a phased migration across data, automation, security and reporting.
  • Created a roadmap to improve the stability and maturity of both orgs.

Architecture decisions

  1. 01

    Assess compatibility first

Phase 0 established whether and how nCino and Financial Services Cloud can be consolidated before any build was committed, so the investment decision rests on evidence.

  2. 02

    Compare target-state options explicitly

The assessment set out target-state options with their dependencies and risks, rather than presenting a single answer.

  3. 03

    Four workstreams, phased

The consolidation is planned as a controlled, phased migration across four workstreams — data, automation, security and reporting — so each can be tested and stabilised in turn.

Outcomes

  • A Phase 0 compatibility assessment setting out target-state options, dependencies and risks.
  • A target data model and a phased consolidation plan across four workstreams.
  • A stability and maturity roadmap for both orgs.
